SLI Consult is at the forefront when the talk falls on Cloud Computing and services. we now have a number of customers who have tried their hand at the “cloud”.
Common to all our customers is, they save money, and avoid some hassle.
Often it is a milestone for the company when steps are taken to move data out of the house, and for good reason. Traditionally, the company’s data has been in print frames in the server room or basement.
The idea of Cloud Computing often becomes topical when the company is about to upgrade one or more existing servers. Or maybe you need new servers for new systems.
Most IT managers know the situation when it comes to investing. Servers and software quickly fill up the budget, and you rarely get all the wishes you have for new systems in the first place. A few functions are postponed until the next budget year to get started.
Cloud services do up with the idea of spending money on buying servers and software. The whole trick is to pay a small amount per month, and the cost of getting started is often very low.
At the same time, the electricity bill is saved in the form of disused servers and associated less need for cooling – and above all – staff for the operation!
Most companies start with a single feature – for example, the email server. After running with it for a while and starting to get used to the idea, well then there is generally a desire to continue the next time new servers are purchased.
